MonkeyPoly returned for Season 2 at The Goat Turf — teams of three rolled, traded, negotiated and battled their way around our life-sized Pondicherry-inspired game board.
One round of MonkeyPoly wasn't enough.
Season 2 brought the giant board back for another evening of properties, Banana Bucks, negotiations, challenges and unpredictable Monkey Minded decisions — this time with teams of three stepping onto the board together.
Pondicherry once again became the inspiration for the game. Rock Beach, White Town, Mission Street, Auroville, JIPMER and other familiar locations became part of an economy where teams had to decide when to buy, when to save, when to negotiate and when to take a risk.
Every roll could change the game. A valuable property could suddenly become yours. A Monkey Mischief card could create instant chaos. A trip to Monkey Jail could ruin a perfectly good strategy. Season 2 kept the core of MonkeyPoly intact: simple enough to enter, unpredictable enough that nobody could completely control what happened next.
The moments, the challenges, and the bits nobody planned for.
Teams of three stepped onto MonkeyPoly, received the rules and prepared to turn Pondicherry properties into their own little empire.
Every dice roll created a new decision — buy the property, hold the Banana Bucks or prepare for what could happen next.
As ownership spread around the board, teams began competing for the locations they needed while watching what their opponents were building.
Strategy only worked until Monkey Mischief entered the picture and forced players to deal with unexpected challenges and penalties.
Property deals and Banana Buck negotiations turned teammates into strategists and opposing teams into temporary business partners.
Towards the end, small decisions suddenly became big ones as teams tried to turn their final properties and Banana Bucks into the strongest finish possible.
Monopoly gave us the starting point. Pondicherry and Monkey Minded took it somewhere completely different.
Instead of sitting around a table, players physically travelled around a giant board. Instead of ordinary locations, they landed on places they actually recognised from Pondicherry. Instead of cash, they dealt in Banana Bucks.
Then came Monkey Mischief, Tribe Treasure, fines, jail, challenges and the one ingredient no strategy could fully prepare for: other people.
The next adventure is already being planned. Come along for that one.
