The first chapter of MonkeyPoly — a life-sized Pondicherry-inspired board game where players became the pieces, bought properties, made deals and survived plenty of Monkey Minded chaos.
What happens when you take a board game off the table, make it more than eight metres wide and ask people to become the playing pieces themselves?
That was the idea behind MonkeyPoly. Season 1 brought Monkey Minded’s first life-sized Pondicherry-inspired board game to life, transforming familiar places such as Rock Beach, White Town, Mission Street, Auroville, JIPMER and more into properties players could land on, own and fight over.
Players moved around the board, handled Banana Bucks, bought properties, negotiated with other teams and tried to build their way towards the top. But this was never going to be normal Monopoly. Monkey Mischief, Tribe Treasure, fines, Monkey Jail and unexpected challenges could completely change a team’s position.
Season 1 was where MonkeyPoly became more than an idea. It became a real Monkey Minded experience — strategic, competitive, social and just chaotic enough to make every turn unpredictable.

Familiar Pondicherry locations became valuable properties as teams raced to build their portfolios before their opponents could.
Buying, collecting, paying, negotiating and protecting Banana Bucks became a game of its own.
Landing on the wrong space could trigger a challenge, penalty or ridiculous Monkey Minded moment nobody had planned for.
Teams negotiated properties and made tactical decisions as the board slowly became more competitive.
As the game approached its end, every roll, property and Banana Buck mattered in the race to finish on top.
In a normal board game, you move a token. In MonkeyPoly, you are the token.
We rebuilt the game around Pondicherry, replaced ordinary money with Banana Bucks and filled the board with Monkey Mischief, Tribe Treasure, Monkey Jail, unexpected challenges and familiar places from around the city.
The result was part board game, part team challenge and part social chaos — exactly how Monkey Minded likes it.
